NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – Once the turkey becomes leftovers, several area towns are ready for the next holiday.
On Friday night, tree lighting ceremonies will take place across the area.
In downtown Wilmington, the tree lighting will take place at the corner of Water and Princess streets with holiday entertainment beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by the tree lighting and the lighting of the US Coast Guard Cutter Diligence at approximately 6:25 p.m.
Members of the Downtown Business Alliance will be serving free coffee and hot chocolate. There will be carolers for entertainment and vendors will host a “Holiday Marketplace” selling arts and crafts. Santa will visit shortly after the tree lighting.
A tree lighting ceremony also kicks off at 5:30 p.m. in Wrightsville Beach. It begins with a musical performance by the Elf Patrol and the lighting of the tree as they welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus to Wrightsville Beach. Come enjoy holiday music, hot chocolate, and a visit with Santa.
Burgaw is also lighting up their Christmas tree Friday night. It starts at 6:00 p.m. on the Court House Square.
Leland is holding their Christmas tree lighting ceremony this Sunday. It starts at 6:30 p.m. at Leland Town Hall.
